Both eBooks will be made free for my Patrons, or you can buy them on Amazon. If you want. What do you mean you don't want to?!?

Released - Captain Disaster: The Dark Side of the Moon (Kindle eBook)
My original plan to release this for free doesn't seem quite in line with what the Amazon self-publishing tool will let me do, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask for your money for this. Not that I don't need the money :-p - if I sell about 50,000 of these things I could be debt-free!
Er... anyway, release details on my writing blog, and of course you can now find it on Amazon. It's a 10.5K word short story based on the plot of the game, although it branches out from what's in the game at several points as well.
Don't forget you can still get the game for free (original and voiced versions available) at GameJolt whilst we finish up bug clearing of Death Has a Million Stomping Boots.

Updates and Guest Post
Update time!
Captain Disaster in Death Has a Million Stomping Boots - testing is about 75% complete. All looking good for a release early in 2017.
The Captain Disaster Collection (eBook) - will be on special offer from 11th to 15th December. See this post for details.
Captain Disaster in: The Dark Side of the Moon (eBook) - almost finished, will be available soon and I've decided to make it a free download. Looks like it will land somewhere between 8-9k words, so only a decent length short story not a novella. You can read an extract here.
I've also done a guest post for someone else's blog called "Turning short stories into a computer game, and back again".

Beta testing is in full swing!
My testers are trying in earnest to break the game, but so far only small or very small bugs reported... (let's see what it looks like next week though!! :-O)

3... 2... 1... test!
Exciting times folks, the official test build has gone to our hardy band of testers. Now to see what we've missed in our own testing (which has felt fairly extensive but maybe we've just got to know the game too well to properly think outside the box and try bizarre things?!).

Testing soon...
We've had to hold off sending to the test team just for a little bit as our own testing has brought up an issue that we want to resolve first (actually hoping our testers will be frustrated because they can't find anything wrong to report - although I realise that is a forlorn hope :-D) - full testing should still be underway soon though.
In the meantime I just want to say a big Thank You to my awesome Patrons, whose donations are going to help me be in a position to pay what I owe for art and music assets for Act III in the game however well the game itself actually does, which is a big load off my mind!

About my Patreon campaign.
I've started a Patreon campaign to try to get some help with developing and blogging about indie games. If I get enough I might be able to consider reducing my work hours to allow more time for gamedev, but truthfully right now every little helps, so if you feel you might light to become a patron and help me out please visit my Patreon page.

Captain Disaster and the Fortunately Friendly Frankly Fun Forum Feedback
Had a couple of nice comments about the recently released voice edition of Captain Disaster in Death Has A Million Stomping Boots:
"GREAT game which kept a smile on my face the whole while playing!" (Mandle, AGS forum)
"Thank you SO much for this cute little, fun game." (sanford, GameBoomers forum)
Er, wait... cute?!?!? :-D :-O
If you've played the game and are an AGS forum member, I'd really appreciate if it you would give the game your honest rating on the AGS Game Page - there are still fewer than 5 ratings in total, meaning that no overall rating can be given! (I admit I'm not expecting high marks for the graphics!)

Audiobooks coming...
... a very long time ago someone did actually create audiobooks of the Captain Disaster short stories - not sure quite what happened to them but anyway I've decided to do them myself. They'll be available along with the eBook when I've done them - will of course announce them here as I complete each episode and make them available.

I've just released an eBook on itch.io on a "Pay What You Want, If You Want" basis (also with options to donate cryptocurrency if you want). Here's the link. If you want to download it for free, that's absolutely fine too.
Anything kindly donated will, currently, immediately go towards trying to pay off some of my growing debts. But seriously, only donate if you really want to!

It's here...
... yes indeed folks, Captain Disaster in The Dark Side of the Moon - TALKIE VERSION has been released with 1000000000% more voices than the version that had no voices. You can download if from GameJolt (54Mb).
(Just make sure you download the "TALKIE VERSION" which is cunningly titled "TALKIE VERSION".)

Aaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!! So near and yet...
- Voiced every line? Check
- Edited into individual lines to go into the game? Check
- Realised that there was a clever bit of coding to put some random speech lines which weren't picked up by the AGS voice script creation tool? ... ... ... nah.
Rats. But, it won't take me too long to sort out, just need to record a smattering of extra lines for 2 characters and code a little extra thingumee to deal with playing the audio as SFX not as speech. Update soon! :-D

Dark Side talkie version and GP giveaway
Okay folks just to let you know that I have now completed the voicing, just have a bit of file management to do and get someone to do a quick spot of testing and we'll be good to go.
In conjunction with this I'll be running a GoldPieces giveaway, to be able to get your free cryptocurrency you'll need to register at https://playforcrypto.com/ (as they'll be handling the technical side of the giveaway) and download the GP wallet. Then you will need to put your GP wallet address into playforcrypto. (It sounds a little convoluted I know, but once you're used to cryptocurrencies in general, it will all be second nature!)

User Reviews
AGS member Andy has written a nice review of both the Stomping Boots demo and the freeware game Dark Side of the Moon.
Captain Disaster in Death Has A Million Stomping Boots (Demo):
A fun-filled 45 minutes of adventure gaming, that just left me wanting more to play! Luckily there is also a free feature length game when I look upon the website :)
Downloaded: 1,760 times
Captain Disaster in The Dark Side of the Moon:
This is an excellent game packed with puzzles and humour. Quite a few Sci-fi references to enjoy.
One of the things I enjoyed about this game is the Achievements section. Every now and then you will get an achievement, some are logical acheievements, some are for doing something funny.
Lots of inventory items to try and figure out what to do with, and nothing truly frustrating. There was maybe one hotspot that was difficult to see - it is near the chasm.
I wouldn't call the game a masterpiece, but I do highly recommend playing :)
Downloaded: 399 times
(Talkie version of Dark Side coming soon, including a GoldPieces giveaway - more details in the coming 2-4 weeks if all goes to plan!)

To Pre-Order or Not to Pre-Order? That is the question...
... whether it is nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortunes and all that... I've decided that, for the time being, the answer is no. Until we've got a definitive release date I'm not comfortable taking anyone's money (not that I couldn't do with a massive influx of money, but that's another story!) - so for now and in the immediate future, I'm shelving the pre-order with GoldPieces idea. It may happen in the future... but not right now.

Poll Results
Well, to say that results of the poll were a little underwhelming is like saying Captain Disaster is a little bit silly sometimes. I think if we do go ahead it will be a very simple pre-order scheme, not an ambitious combination of pre-order and investment scheme. I'll let you know! :-D

Meaningless (but pleasing!) milestone
We have now passed 25K views on the game's GIP (Game In Production) thread on the AGS forums. I've also finally got round to updating the original post in that thread... I didn't realise quite how much of the information there was out of date!
(I know it doesn't sound like much of an achievement, but it's actually only the 43rd GIP post ever to pass 25K views out of very close to 20K GIP threads! - so our game's thread has got more views than 99.7% of the other threads.)

Updates
We're finalising the details of as special pre-order / investment deal for Captain Disaster in Death Has a Million Stomping Boots, along with our sponsor GoldPieces (GP). Basically, there will be a window of 3 months during which interested parties will be able to pre-order the game and get their name in the credits, plus higher tiers to help us with funding now with the promise of GP per unit sold in the first 3 months after the game's official launch (at this time we have not set a final date on that). All transactions for this will be made using GP. This pre-order using crytpocurrency only will be (as far as we are aware) a world first! Hoping to finish up specific details for a launch during April to June 2016. [Just to clarify, I'm talking about a launch of the pre-order scheme, not the game itself!]
In other news, I have not fully voiced all other characters for the talkie version of our freeware game Captain Disaster in: The Dark Side of the Moon. I have done about a third of the Captain's own voice lines. Hoping to release this within a few weeks - depends how much quiet time I can get to finish off the voice lines (sadly in my house with 2 young children, "quiet time" isn't something that really happens much)... Perhaps voicing every character myself wasn't the best idea - it seemed like a good one at the time for some reason!

Blog and Game Updates
The Screenshots page and the About the Game page have both been updated.
Thinking about doing some kind of pre-order for players using GP (GoldPieces - the gaming crytpocurrency that sponsors the development of Captain Disaster in Death Has a Million Stomping Boots), and also possibly some sort of competition / giveaway in conjunction with them.
More news when I have things confirmed.
More screenshots- REJOICE!
These are all partial screenshots, as we don't want to give TOO much away! :-D (This is how we've got round the "show some of Act III without spoilers" issue.)

Provisional New Screenshot Pack
It's about time we had a screenshot pack that properly reflects how the game looks now - a lot of things have changed since 2012! We've been improving existing content as well as adding new stuff.
This may not be the final screenshot set, but for now it's a lot more representative of the game. I will update the main screenshots page when I'm satisfied we have the screenshot pack that we will keep right up to game launch. (Just a note - none of the screenshots below are from Act III. We may add some before finalising the pack.)
